Hungry after festive season...

Nah it has nothing to do with the raya season. It is just that I am hungry now. In this cyber cafe and I am the only customer. Kinda eerie also la. The cyber cafe's cashier is my friend though. If it is not for him, I wouldn't sit here and type this blog. The other guy who is helping in this cc looks so strange. EEEEeee...very scary. just gotta pretend not to see him.

Hungry..
..

All I can think now is food. Gone are the days that I can keep fit. Uhuhuhuk. Cough..Cough. Tua already.

Suddenly I remember this incident pula. I was at McDonald with my sister ordering something. Then, came this Malay couple. The wife went to order la and the husband went to sit down. Before the husband sempat duduk the wife asked

Wife: Abang nak makan apa?

Husband : Ubi..Ubi..

Ubi...Ubi...Ubi...Ubi!

Upon hearing that, my sis saw the wife ordered Fries. In my head...wat the heck? UBI??

UBI = Fries ..as in potato fries ...*oooo ubi kentang!

Haha..haha..stupid like wat onli. I dunno la sometimes maybe people have different terms for something. But talk about who is being more kampung now. I know that some people say East Malaysians are kampung. Figure that situation, those people gotta do some reality check on their environment themselves. At least, widen up their horizon a bit.

Well, my intentions here not to stir any racial discrimination or standard judgement, but stereotyping is just isn't fair sometimes.

I am just wondering how would those people order...

Big Mac, Quarter Pounder, Double CheeseBurger

Roti Lembu??

Be careful of what you wish for...

It seems that everyone is updating their blog this holiday season. Well, that means only one thing la I suppose – that they are FREE. Somehow for me it’s the other way around. Being totally free…*well, now can be considered almost totally free la* I just don’t have time to update my blog. Been caught up with what, do not ask me, I also don’t know. I think it is just plain laziness that have been engulfing me ever since.

One thing that I should be thankful of these days is that have plenty food to eat, lots of free time and NO money to spend. I am broke. Did I mention ONE thing just now? Geez…now I end up mentioning more than that.

Last time, I had been reading people’s blog – and these questions dawn on me…Why do they have such happening lives? Why their experience is something worth sharing on the net and people just can get so interested to read about it? There are normal people like me. Homo sapiens. Yet, their life is much more interesting than mine. (Exception for those celebrities blog la I suppose because being a celebrity only; they already can get people so interested with them already- and now they are writing about themselves –of course people are curious right?)

Well, get back to the main point here. Be careful what you wish for. That's it. I have been wondering why my life is kinda redundant these past few weeks. Well, something really "eventful" and interesting happened lately. Although it is not what I expect yet I did wish my life would be exciting. So this is what happen...

Everyone knows (to whom may it concern la...it's not like EVERYONE knows) that the end of our internship was on last week's friday. *So you do the math and count the date la*. Invigilation for final exams finished officially on tuesday. So the last 3 days of our or rather my internship was "free". Free as in NO more teaching because after exams is the period for students to be happy, jumping for joy because they have finished their one year studies. Now, its all about savouring the moments...STRESS free!

Not for me though! wawawa...CRY cry cry. The last 3 days suppose to be the happiest moment throughout my internship because everything comes to the end already. It is the other way around for me.

The last 3 days in chronological order

1st day : WED

I accidentally … ACCIDENTALLY did this to a government property. The MALAYSIAN government’s property okay! No kidding about that. How did this thing happen? Well, it is a sensitive case. One wrong word being uttered… Then I will need a lawyer already maybe. So, the details about the incident shall be referred to me personally.

To make things easier, let just say that one very good teacher tried to help her students had accidentally damaged the laptop while teaching the class. That’s it.

2nd day: THURS
Of course when you broke something that is not yours, you should report it right? So, being a good employee, a good citizen. I did. Then after that, my worst nightmare almost came true. My big boss obviously not happy with what had happen la.

So, a damage done must be compensated by something and the situation is not that easy because the existence of various party. But end of story is that my big boss wants me to bear full responsibilty of the damage (including paying for the damage) even though it is a GOVERNMENT of malaysia's property and it was an ACCIDENT. To top things off, everything should be black and white...and all of my particulars and copies of my personal ids being taken down. *wow, almost like a police case man*

I am just curious that - since when does the government is not responsible in the repair of their property? Somemore this one was an accident. *puzzled* Anybody can enlighten me on this matter?

Then the rest of the day, I was not in the best of my mood. Took pictures with students also I have to paksa myself to smile.

Somehow, one gift did cheer me up. A female pig. Not the real one la of course. But it is very cute. Thanx Wei Ling! Now my other patung named Boo-Boo got a girlfriend already. Haha. Both of them are pink. See...

3rd day: FRI
*Sigh! Last day of school. But the case haven't been settle yet and I think my big boss wasn't that happy with the solution that I suggested to her. Well, one thing for sure this matter is not mainly individuals issue. It is something bigger than that. So, I guess in the future...my big boss on behalf of the government have to deal this matter with my Uni themselves.

Somehow, the figure for that damage done is around RM1K plus...*I guess anyone can estimate the cost from the pic right? * Sigh again. Mati la...If gotta pay, then I think I have to volunteer jadi gardener for that school la. If not jadi aunty cleaner ka...to pay back my debt. But for now, the status of the case is PENDING. Not much can do about it now. Just gotta wait and see.

Well, last day also full of surprises. The last school bus ride home also very exciting. The journey home which only took about half an hour normally turned into a 2 hours torturing-stressful-and-agonising journey ever. JAM! blame it on the JAM and the RAIN.

I just don't want to relive the moments by writting about it again. But for sure, it was very stressful. When I reached my room, I was soaked, tired, sakit hati, grumpy and VERY explosive. Imagine with two bags of books and files, a bouquet of chocs and teddy, a handbag on one shoulder and an umbrella. My hands were literally FULL. Not to mention that the very high.. high heels that I wear. Boleh mati I tell you!

Lucky I still got my appetite to have my already-cold-dinner. After that, I see see the bouquet of chocs and teddy from my students. Hmmm. What a shock in my life that I found among those cute stuffs. Details of it shall not be revealed. Again sensitive info.

A
ll I can say is that I was so touched that the next thing I know was tears welling up in my eyes and it trickled down my cheeks. A BIG thank you for all of you girls! You all know I won't accept it right. But for now, let the story ends like this.

Yum..Yum...But it hurts!

Shark Fin Soup....YUMMY! Appetising isn't it?

"In the last fifteen years demand for shark fin soup has boomed in Asia. Hong Kong, Singapore and Taiwan are the main shark fin trading centres. Asian consumers are unaware of the cruelty and unsustainability of the shark fin trade. Increasingly on the high seas sharks are “finned” and the rest of their bodies, often still alive, are dumped at sea. Shark meat is often too low-value compared to the target species (e.g. tuna) so 95-99% of the shark is discarded to conserve hold space. Shark fin provides gelatinous bulk in shark fin soup, but it has no taste – the soup has to be flavoured with chicken or other stock. While a fisherman in India will earn only $6 per pound of shark fin, a bowl of soup can cost $100 in a Hong Kong restaurant."

What?? "Finned" and the rest of the bodies* still alive dump at sea. Yikes! It is like someone, cut off your leg...cook it and make it into soup. AND you...being left there limping, bleeding until you turn white. LIFELESS

*OUCH!!

I don't know what Shark Fin Soup lovers will say about this, but this cruelty can be stopped by one small action.

STOP eating Shark Fin Soup

Knock on wood, people!

For most catholics, I mean practising catholics -ROSARY is something very common...and it could be one of the favourite prayers. Now, it is October...the month of rosary. The month of rosary and it suggest that one should pray rosary more.

My understanding of the month of rosary is just like the mega-sale-carnival months where sale and discounts are happening throughout the stores nationwide and people will shop throughout this shopping month. But, unfortunately...hehe. It doesn't really goes the same way to the month of the rosary to me. Which in the first place, I should.

Hehe *Grin sheepishly

Somehow, I did pray the rosary also la. Now, at work, exam in progress. Invigilation is not the favourite thing that I want to do. Out of the 2 hours of invigilation, ...*shhh..I am not suppose to do this by the way*...half an hour out of that will be used for rosary prayers. Yes...in the classroom where I invigilate. Strange but true.

One thing that really caught my attention is this one...observe these pictures

Need I explain what are those? Ok2. Rosary, Buddhist prayer beads (don't know its real name) and tasbih. Despite the difference in the religious practice, there are of course similarities in some ways. It is quite fascinating! Especially if you got to know the history of those prayer beads...

Eager to know more, I searched the history of rosary and all I found was rather boring with same stuff and very historically written (*of course la,its history, stupid me). Except for this one

HISTORY of the ROSARY "KNOCK ON WOOD" Often we use the phrase, "Knock on wood" - and proceed to do just that: knock on a table or a door or whatever wood is handy. Most do not know that the origin of the phrase and practice comes from the rosary. Rosaries in the old days were made of oak wood and were fingered in time of distress or trouble. Thus, holding on to or rubbing the wooden rosary or its wooden crucifix when danger was near became a common way for Christians to deal with hardships and difficulties. The practice slipped into common use as "Knock on wood."

Friday - The 13th

Yes...today is indeed friday the 13th. Well, superstitions? Maybe. Some people do believe about it. And I just found that there exist people who are scared of this date...Friday the 13th. It is called paraskevidekatriaphobia .

Quite a mouthful isn't it? There is another case of people scared of the number 13 - triskaidekaphobia . For now, I haven't met people who fall under these two categories mentioned. So, anybody out there who suffers this phobia, let me know, I would like to get to know you more. Hehe

For me, I am totally the opposite of these 2 cases. I love the number 13. I was born on the 13th as well and I can be celebrating my birthday on one of the very few friday the 13th that may happen.

I am also quiet fascinated about the beliefs that people hold about this particular day. Check this out --> The reasons why Friday came to be regarded as a day of bad luck have been obscured by the mists of time — some of the more common theories link it to a significant event in Christian tradition said to have taken place on Friday, such as the Crucifixion, Eve's offering the apple to Adam in the Garden of Eden, the beginning of the Great Flood, or the confusion at the Tower of Babel. Chaucer alluded to Friday as a day on which bad things seemed to happen in the Canterbury Tales as far back as the late 14th century ("And on a Friday fell all this mischance"), but references to Friday as a day connected with ill luck generally start to show up in Western literature around the mid-17th century:

...and that's only the history. How about some taboo that is linked with this Friday the 13th

Harvesting: "My father once decided to start harvest on a Friday, and men went out on the Thursday evening, and, unpaid, cut along one side of the first field with their scythes, in order to dodge the malign fates which a Friday start would begin." (1933)

Beginning a sea voyage: "Sailors are many of them superstitious . . . A voyage begun [on a Friday] is sure to be an unfortunate one." (1823)

Giving birth: "A child born on a Friday is doomed to misfortune." (1846) --> Oh no, if you are pregnant and you know that your baby will come out on friday, keep your legs together, don't let the baby out! Hahahaha.

Getting married: "As to Friday, a couple married on that day are doomed to a cat-and-dog life." (1879) --> I know most catholics get married on Sat but still some of them ended up worse than a cat and dog also... :))

Recovering from illness: "If you have been ill, don't get up for the first time on a Friday." (1923) --> That's Good! More reason to stay in bed...Haha

Hearing news: "If you hear anything new on a Friday, it gives you another wrinkle on your face, and adds a year to your age." (1883) --> Must it be a friday and a news for a wrinkle?? Wrinkle comes with age la...

Moving: "Don't move on a Friday, or you won't stay there very long." (1982)

Starting a new job: "Servants who go into their situations on Friday, never go to stay." (1923) --> Of course la, because the day after that is Saturday. No work on Sat and Sun

But the best one, I think is this one about the thirteen people seated in a table...

...

..

Remember, the last supper?

(The "thirteen at the table" form of superstition again harkens back to the Last Supper: the one who left the table first, Judas Iscariot, died at his own hand soon afterwards.)

Anyone wanna leave the table first? ;p

Curi-curi..

As I am typing this post, I have to glance over my shoulder...Scared the management people saw me curi tulang. If other teacher saw me I don't care d. The BITCH club are nowhere to be seen today. But somehow, gotta put my window for this page to the minimum...Nanti kena nampak. Tapi if got teachers busy2 go n click the history button, I wonder if they can track down this. Haha...That's the thrill and I like it.

The final period of school time now. Another 10-15 minutes before the bell will ring. So, now seizing the chance to surf for free with the streamyx at school. Very convenient! Not like this morning I went to a cyber cafe in Sungai 2. I surfed for only 10-15 mins like that. I was charged RM1...WHoa! I tell you that's inflation. I don't understand why this kind of service is still hard to access and not cheap. Even though the nation is striving to be a well developed country some time in the near future. Now, they are not even providing the best platform for the people of this country to be exposed to the boom of information technology.

In campus also, I am desperately trying to get wireless connection which had been absent for the past few weeks or should I say months. . .

Wanna write more but time is running out. Bell about to ring in a few minutes...After this HOME!!
Well, actually not really home la...hostel only...but still tomorrow is friday and that marks the start of the weekend...YAY! really looking forward to that. More to be posted soon (if I got this opportunity again la) Hehehe..

spell SLOB!

If anyone could see the condition of my room now, they wouldn’t think that it is supposed to be a girl’s room. Apart from the pink bed sheet, red and pink pillows and flowery “lip-lap” chasing lights…the rest of the room spells the word S.L.O.B – Sexy, Lusty, Obedient Babe! Hahaha…No la - it spelled SLOB as in being a slob.

I am just very lazy to maintain it the way it should be. Every time I tried to keep it in order, not long after that it will be as messy as it can be. I have tried okay, its not that I didn’t put any effort to change the situation.

But got the latest edition to my room’s accessories. Tada!

Its two lanterns, bought it from Sungai Dua shop last Sat. It is a paper lantern, yellow and red. Hehe. I am describing them like a little kid who just got a new pair of shoes to wear to school pula. But it add to the reddish, warm ambience to my room. Helping to emphasize the effect of my red flowery “lip-lap” chasing lights also.

If you are curious what is “lip-lap” chasing lights. It is just the decorative lights that you use to decorate the Christmas tree la. I named it “lip-lap” cause the lights goes lip-lap-lip-lip…Aiyo.I also dunno how to explain properly la. Just observe the movements of the lights. You will understand better.

I think I am the only person to have a chasing lights in their room. Somemore, this is not my own room. Hostel – and I am sharing it with my roommate. My room certainly got the festive feeling anytime of the year. Haha.
