W - W is for Wednesdays (ROM)

Registration of marriage. Legal stuff and for me it is just a formality. Although technically am actually married now but I just don't feel that it is "official" until everything is solemnized at church.

And the experience prior to the registration... Ok. Let me sum this up.

I arrived in Penang yesterday and as a preparation to the event today, I slept early. But around 1.30am, my dad woke me and my mom because he has discomfort and numbness over his right side of body especially the arm and the pain at the back of his neck. We were worried sick.

Thinking of the place to seek help at that odd hours I called the hotel reception for help but all I got from them is "Pegi Klinik Tajudin, just go straight straight only" - punya la tu jawapan minta ampas! Sial butul. Lucky the mister ada kasi pinjam kereta to us. So I drove to the hospital (just relying on my memory of the roads a couple of years ago)

And you know the drill with government hospital. Queuing and what nots.

Basically, my dad had ECG, CT scan and blood test done on him and all this in one night. It is kinda certain that my parents can't make it to my ROM because he has to be warded for the night and need to be diagnosed by the specialist early in the morning. Sleepless night. I left my parents at the hospital and got back to the hotel to catch an hour sleep then get ready.

So it was a lonely feat to be at the ROM. I just have to smile through the storm.

The mister and his parents and his aunty. That's all. I went through the whole thing like a dream. Still pretty much dazed and lack of sleep.

Just looking forward for 14th of Sept now

W - is for Wednesdays ( First Dance )

Some couple take dance classes for their first dance. Some just "goyang-goyang" saja.

Some love to have it more fun and lively like Cha-Cha or Jive

Some love to have it more romantic like Waltz or Rhumba

But I guess whether it is impromptu or not, it is supposed to be shared as a memorable and fun moment for the couple.

As for my first dance, me and the mister gotta practice. Hahaha. Ada la tu urang sort of having two left feet sometimes but I love him for that. Haha. Never fail to make me smile.

W - is for Wednesdays ( Bridezilla )

What are the symptoms of Bridezilla? When I read articles about Bridezilla(s) am almost or partly it and half of me is the anti-bride.

Anti-bride is defined to be those who don't fancy the big.white.wedding. So I guess am a crossover of this two persona.

My wedding is pretty much scattered with a lot of DIY things in which things that I did the research and execute it myself. Right from the designing, the folding, the crafting. Am thanking God for my wonderful family for lending a hand on this tedious (crazy) task. I can't do those things alone. Although they might not understand why I wanted to do everything on my own, but they still help. I hate those people who are all talk but no help punya type.

I understand people won't get it why I wanted to do things my way. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. So do I. Besides its me and the mister's wedding, not theirs. Hmpph! Some even question why I choose to do the tedious details for the wedding invitation (yes, folding the doilies and crafting it). I always have the option to choose the easy way (get a vendor and let them do it for you). But I choose the road less taken. The design of the card, the color, the envelopes, the font are all the things that I like. Being creative is the satisfaction although its painful. I don't live for the compliment of others.

I guess there's a lot of hearts are meant to be broken along the way. But I still need to take care of my own (even the mister is giving green light for most of the things, so why bother). As for now, I just can't accept it when the talking become more rampant rather than a helping hand. Kana tulung juga tapi tulung tinguk sama cakap saja. Bikin panas.

So yeah, am the anti-bride and almost a Bridezilla bride to be. Say hello to August and let me panic now. (albeit the existence of checklists. Hahaha. Panic mode on)

W - is for Wednesdays ( Engagement Shoots )

Hey hey I am back! I am missing a lot of posts here on my blog. The last school holiday was fully utilized to not handling stuff related to work. Cuti habis!

And also I did my Pre-Wedding shoot ( in which I rather call it Engagement shoot ). So, where's the behind the scene shoot. Gosh! I don't have any except for this photo which I also posted on my instagram ( I am @joan_jade on instagram, do follow me! )

I did my engagement shoot with Jofanna Bridal. Highly recommended for the couple who loves flexibility and who wants to be fully engaged in having their own ideas to be dumped in the whole concept. Just like what we did. I can't do any comparison with other bridal though but all I can say if you want flexibility and quirkyness, Jofanna Bridal is the place to go.

Will blog more about it once the photos are ready.

p.s: Ah, can't wait for the photos. I am so anxious and excited to see the outcome.

W - is for Wednesdays ( Handling Emotions )

Usually on Wednesday, I will be talking about wedding details but this time it's a little different. Handling emotions as a bride or bride-to-be.

For me, the thought of having my dad to walk me down the aisle and hand me to the next man who is going to take care of me for the rest of my life is already overwhelming. Yes, I cry easily.

I sing for wedding choirs most of the time and the most touching part for me for any wedding ceremony is always the part where the father of the bride give away her princess to the future husband of her daughter. The feeling of having a lump in my throat while singing is inevitable. Most of the time, I will try not to look at the whole process and just sing.

I guess it is the biggest change for any bride and the fact that the act of "handing over" is such a big transition, it will definitely made a big impact on anyone. Ok maybe, not every bride will cry. For me I guess I will.

I remember having a video done by Pastels & Cream prior to my engagement party. The question about the things I wanted to say to my parents because I am about to get married really really is overwhelming. I was running through the questions while I was sitting in class and hey waterworks started and I just have to pura-pura gosok mata kunun masuk habuk scared my students perasan saya nangis. Odoi.

For some brides, their life won't change so much because they marry someone from their neighbourhood or let alone their highschool sweetheart. I have a long distance relationship and I guess once I get married, not only that I am "detaching" myself from my family, I also have to embrace another new environment in a different place.

Preparing for this wedding isn't so bad. But preparing myself for a marriage is the real test actually.

What say you? Any advice from past-brides that have gone through all this?

W - is for Wednesday ( Bridal Hair Accesories )

Tiaras

This is the like the most common accessory I can see on most brides. It's very regal and princess like. And the size of tiaras ranges from small to HUGE. I guess the most suitable ones would be the one that's subtle and appropriate for your face shape and size

I think it is a big NO NO to have a huge tiara like a beauty queen but sadly there are brides who walked down the aisle/sanding with this huge tiara. Tsk tsk tsk

I am totally loving this halo tiara. Very dreamy!

Flowers

So feminine. Whether it's fresh flowers or not, it totally add an extra touch of softness to the whole look

Looking for a more bohemian look. Try flower crowns.

Headbands

This simple understated piece is always a favourite too. You can dress up and dress it down with the amount of bling on the headband. Wear it from the day to the night.

Jewel Clips

Very flexible since you can just place it anywhere on your hair and you can skip the huge and chunky earrings or necklace and just adorn your hair with this jewels

Frontlets

Frankly, my least favourite. It is just like putting a necklace on your head and voila ~ not pretty. Huhu

I think only Indian brides can really pull this look off without having something like a necklace or other kind jewelleries being "scattered" on the head

These are my thoughts on this. Other brides and bride-to-be might have different views about it. Selamat hari tiga!!!

W - is for Wednesday ( Bridal Party attire )

It's already May! Time flying by so fast. Should I start to freak out now that THE day is almost near. Anyway, my Wedding Wednesday is here to stay. Let's talk about bridal party attire.

There's so many options these days. Being a fickle minded girl I am, I just can't choose. But one thing for sure, I want the dresses for the bridesmaid are something practical and definitely can be used again for casual or formal wear next time. Not really loving the idea of something that is not use-able in the future.

1) Satin dresses
I can say this is the most favourable kind of dresses dari dulu lagi ni.

But more often than not, the girls might end up like the table cloth as well. Just gotta be careful in choosing the right shade of the material. I think my bridesmaid can't really fit well with the high shine of the satin because my bridesmaid not kicil-kicil and slim.

2) Chevron patterned dresses
Down right quirky! I like the idea. This is something sustainable because of the prints. Something different right? The only thing is the horizontal chevron lines it will emphasize wideness of the body.

3) Mismatched dresses
Like totally different dresses but in the same color hue. I really love this idea. Now the thing is to shop for it is another extra effort. Gotta bring the girls to shop together

4) Colour coded dresses
The easiest I guess. Choose a color and stick to it. My pink obsession seems to be sharing it's priority with the color yellow these days. I don't know why. Maybe it's the color of spring. It's a whole dose of sunshine here!

5) Lace dresses
And you can never go wrong with this timeless fabric. It's romantic and everything warm and fuzzy. The only downside is a good lace is quite pricey. Huhu

The top 5 that really caught my attention are all those above. Anyway, options are endless. Keep your options open and don't be afraid to try something new. Have a great Wednesday all! Happy Labour Day too!

W - is for Wednesday ( Wedding Invites )

Wedding Wednesdays!  One of my fave thing to do now is browse for wedding invite samples. And then again, this is always a delicate matter on how the wording should be and such. Let alone the choice of fonts and what not. Hmmmm.

One thing for sure I am really sure that I don't want my wedding invite to have my photo on it. Nda tau la pula kenapa sa nda suka ni, maybe the thought of having the card to be thrown away anyway or it will just end up collecting dust in someone's house...I don't know. Saya nda mo muka sa kana conteng2. Haha ( ketara la time budak2 suka ni menconteng muka urang di kad kahwin )

Anyways, here's some wedding invites inspiration off the net
